The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management at ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã (WPU) can help you develop your skills in strategic leadership and analytical decision-making to be able to effectively manage teams and drive business performance in any industry.

The BS in Business Administration program is also available with emphasis areas in Healthcare Administration, Human Resource Management, and Entrepreneurship. Working adult learners with some college experience may want to consider the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration program, which has online and hybrid format options.

Balancing instruction in business theories with practical, hands-on experiences, WPU’s BS in Business Administration program with an emphasis in Leadership and Management covers key business topics in areas such as economics, employment law, and ethics, as well as core leadership and management concepts in fields that include managerial accounting, global business, and strategic management.

What Can You Do With a Bachelor’s in Leadership and Management?

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, Curriculum

The BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, curriculum includes six prerequisite course credits, 30 major course credits, and 18 emphasis course credits. Of the 54 total required credits, 22 credits must be completed in residence at WPU, and 28 credits must be in upper-division courses. 

In order to earn a BS in Business Administration, Leadership and Management, at WPU, you need to do the following:

  • Complete all major course requirements and general education core course requirements with grades of at least C- in each course.
  • Complete a total of 120 credits, including at least 40 upper-division credits (300-level and 400-level courses).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

What if I have not filed my taxes?

Most likely, you have already filed your taxes, as most of the deadlines to file have passed. If you have not filed yet, you must do so in order to be eligible for federal financial aid.

In the meantime, you can complete the FAFSA with estimated information and revise it once your taxes have been filed.

What if I’m interested in a CLEP exam?

CLEP tests are no longer offered at ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã. Please visit the CLEP website at  to determine the most convenient testing location for you. You will need to contact the testing location directly to arrange a test time. Make sure to send your official transcripts to the WPU Records Office to be entered onto your academic record.

What is a Leave of Absence (LOA) and why do I need one?

A Leave of Absence (LOA) is a planned temporary break in attendance with a specific date of return within the same semester. It is different than a break in attendance, which does not have a specific date of return. Completing an LOA form prevents any negative impact to your financial aid while you are out of attendance.

ÍæÅ¼½ã½ã has a formal LOA policy for Professional and Graduate Studies Students (see the most recent Academic Catalog) that allows you to be out of attendance for a specific period of time, but you must meet requirements for an LOA to be approved:

  • You must schedule a return date
  • You must receive federally mandated LOA counseling from your Financial Aid Counselor prior to the last night of attendance
  • You must complete an LOA form
  • You must attend the last class session before your leave and return to class as expected after your leave

If you take a break in attendance without an approved LOA In place you may have to begin repaying your loans. Federal Stafford Loans have a grace period of six months before you must begin repayment. When you take a break in attendance you will not have to repay your loan until the grace period expires. But, if you use all of your grace period during your time out of attendance, you will have to begin repaying your loan immediately after you graduate or leave school. It is possible to request an extension to the grace period, but this must be done before the grace period expires. If your grace period has run out in the middle of your break in attendance, you will have to start making payments on your student loans.

What is an FSA ID?

Your FSA ID is a username and password that you must use to login to certain U.S. Department of Education (ED) websites. Your FSA ID identifies you as someone who has the right to access your own personal information on ED websites such as the FAFSA.

It’s important to understand that a student and parent may not share an FSA ID. Your FSA ID is your signature, so it has to be unique to you. If you are a parent of a dependent student, you will need your own FSA ID if you want to sign your child’s FAFSA form electronically. If you have more than one child attending college, you can use the same FSA ID to sign all applications, but each child must have his or her own.

What is financial aid?

All sports will continue this year. Fall sports competitions have been moved to Spring 2021 with practices beginning later in the Fall semester. Winter sports will begin after November 1, 2020. The FAFSA calculates an Student Aid Index (SAI), which is an index number that colleges use to determine your eligibility for need based Federal financial aid.

What is the format of testing?

DSST exams are usually multiple choice, timed, and administered at a computer terminal. A score of 70% or better is considered passing and the results are not included in your GPA. If you do not post a score of 70% or better, you do not earn credit for the exam.

If you are considering exams as part of your strategy to complete degree requirements, you need to review the exam list for titles that interest you and that do not overlap in content in an area for which you have already received credit or will receive credit. There are many titles to choose from that will address core (general eds) and titles that will address electives only. You are strongly advised to review all exam titles with your academic advisor before completing an exam especially if you are testing to earn credit in a core (general ed) area.

What is the plan for campus housing?

We understand that campus housing is many students’ primary residence during the year. Therefore, we have worked to ensure that housing may remain open and available to students regardless of whether classes are able to meet in person or must adjust to online only at some point during the semester. Students who move into campus housing this Fall are agreeing to remain in the unit for the semester. Any changes made to housing and meal plans prior to September 5th may be eligible for a pro-rated refund. Changes made after September 5th will not be considered for a refund.

What is the plan for cleaning and sanitizing in the residential halls?

Shared spaces including lounges and laundry rooms are sanitized five days a week and cleaned daily. Cleaning materials are also available for residents to perform additional sanitization of areas they are using. Please only use the bathroom on your wing or floor. RAs will also sanitize shared spaces during nightly rounds.

What is the price of on-campus dining?

There are three meal plans available for students to purchase. Students who do not have meal plans are always welcome to purchase individual meals as needed. The Platinum meal plan is required for all freshman and sophomore students, and anyone living in the residence halls. What is verification, and why do I have to do it?

Each year, the U.S. Department of Education randomly selects approximately 22% of those who complete the FAFSA for a process called verification. If selected, there’s no need to worry! Verification is simply designed to make sure information submitted on the FAFSA matches actual tax records.

If you’re selected, you will need to complete a Verification Worksheet and submit tax transcripts for both the parent and student. Your financial aid counselor will compare the figures on the tax documents with what you reported on the FAFSA and make updates to your record if necessary. If you have already received an award before verification is complete, a revised award may be sent.
